Today we went to the Great Wall. It was amazing, of course.
Pictures:

(Let’s do it!)

(On the wall.)

(It was extremely crowded on the first leg.)

(I made it! The Great Wall of China!)

(It is huge…)

(Extremely huge…)

(Climbing onto a tower… the only way up. I was actually pretty scared.)

(But I made it!)
We climbed for hours, working toward the highest point in our section:

(Touching the back wall of the highest point in the area. Is my hand distinct enough?)

(Anne and I at the top!)
The way back down was terrifying. Look how steep it was:

Many parts were just as steep with no steps. Steve fell and the rest of us nearly did.
Here are some more shots of the wall:

And at the very end, after the wall. For some completely unexplained reason, four pits full of bears:

I am exhausted. We stared this climb over 12 hours ago. Since then we’ve driven around, walked around and eaten two meals. I can’t make myself write anything… I need a shower and sleep.
love to everyone, still missing home.
GHELLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOO!!!

That is freakin awsome! There is alot of people there! I never thought about how much of a physical activity it is to explore the great wall. Questions I always wonderded about: are there horse stables in those towers? Is there alot of security there now guarding the old wall? Are repairs still made to the wall? I saw that picture of your hand at the hightest point and wondered how old that brick and mortar actually is. I’m glad you posted, I can see that your tired too! Get some sleep

Dude you get to see the cool wall…all I got to see was the DMZ’s barbwire fence…the bears at the end of your tour were badass…I am all about those bears and having a bear security squad equiped with the sacred knowledge of the silver sphere. Intially the security bears that defend the wall were lured here from their secret base on Mars (notably the face/crater) of which the only Earthlings that knew of the secret were the Anarticans (which at the time were known as the Cardigans before the axial shift of the Earth at the time of the great flood possibly and Antartica was located roughly where China is now) anyways by the time the bears got the message and prepared there rockets the Great Flood occured and Cardinasia was shifted South to what is now the South Pole and China was relocated in its present place. Hence the security bears showed up in China expecting Cardinasia and it’s Cardigan citizens but were surprised to find the Chinese instead because although their [Security Bears] were at the right cordinates the Earth itself had shifted. Hence the Security bears were captured and forced into a sort of slavery and the secret to the silver sphere was lost…(For now)….

There was a delay in between the last transmission of the Cardigans and The Great Flood (about 1,000 years) and about another 2,000 years after the flood before the Security Bears were able to arrive on the scene here on Earth.
I wonder if this is how L.Ron Hubbard got started?

Wow…I don’t think I ever realize just how big the Great Wall is. I probably would have dropped from exhaustion after the first section!

leave it to you guys to make it all the way!!! keep up the good work. i’m pretty sure you shouldn’t just be climbing around though. what if you fell over the side…or even worse, into the bear pit with the “security bears.”
i apparently can’t even climb our stairs at home…..i fell down them yetserday and bruised up my arm. awe-some!!!!!
i also would like to know if there is high security on the wall…and if they still make repairs. get back to us on that.

Wow, what great pictures. Dad really wants to take a tour to China. I hear they’re going to organize a marathon on the great wall.(Ha! There is a bag in your first aid kit with medication for muscle and joint pain if you need it. I certainly would if I had done the Wall. Love and miss you so much. Mom
